Fraport sees rise in earnings

Passenger numbers have increased considerably

Frankfurt airport operator Fraport has seen a rise in its third-quarter earnings by a third from a year ago to $406 million (317 million euros), largely due to increased passenger traffic which incidentally offset the low cargo volumes. Cargo traffic at the airport was down 8.1 per cent from the first three quarters of 2011 at around 1.56 million metric tons.

Cargo throughput at the group’s other airports – Lima in Peru; Antalya in Turkey; and Bourgas and Varna in Bulgaria – has gone down 7.3 per cent year-on-year to 1.74 million tons.
