Air Berlin (AB) has gone to court seeking damages for the delay by Berlin Brandenburg Airport operator Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH (BER) to open the airport. AB’s chief executive Hartmut Mehdorn said in a statement that “many intensive discussions with the airport operator in which we strove to find a mutually acceptable solution” had been held. “Unfortunately, no such agreement could be reached despite extensive efforts on the part of AB” – hence the legal action.

The last date given by BER for the opening is October 2013.
