Air France-KLM (AF-KLM) realised “a satisfactory third quarter across all its businesses with the exception of cargo”, according to a statement from the carrier. Cargo traffic went down 6.5 per cent, against a 2.9 per cent drop in capacity, causing load factor to fall 2.4 points to 63.6 per cent.
The carrier has posted a nine-month net loss of $1.2 billion (€957 million); a 74 per cent rise from the €550 million loss for the comparable period in 2011. The losses have come mainly due to restructuring charges. No Q3 comparisons could be made because AF-KLM is changing its accounting processes and its financial year-end will now be December 31 instead of March 31.
