A third runway is a must, said Qatar Airways some time ago

Virgin Atlantic Airways chief executive Steve Ridgway has said that London’s Heathrow airport has to be expanded if the UK wants to improve its links to key markets abroad, according to newsreports.
A few days ago, Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker called on the British government to urgently address capacity constraints at London Heathrow to avoid a ‘catastrophic situation’ for the country’s economy and advocated the construction of a third runway if the airport wanted to remain competitive with rival European airport hubs. Speaking at the the Aviation Club in London, Al Baker said the third runway ‘was not an option, but a necessity’ to overcome the capacity crunch Heathrow was facing.
