US Federal Transportation Administration’s (FTA) Peter Rogoff has said that “President Obama and the Department of Transportation (DOT) are committed to investing in a reliable, modern transportation network that creates jobs today and supports businesses in the long term”. Blogging on Fast Lane, the personal blogsite of transportation secretary Ray LaHood, Rogoff wrote that the US administration wanted to modernize the $60 bn air cargo industry to ensure its market leadership. Since US businesses relied on a 21st century transportation network, there was a need for “an air cargo system that can keep up with the speed of global commerce”.
