September spelt trouble for AF-KLM cargo

Despite reduction in capacity, volumes have continued to be low

September air cargo traffic went down 6.6 per cent, year-on-year, for Air France-KLM. The drop was not new since the combined carrier recorded similar low volumes from January to August. AF-KLM cut freight capacity by 4.4 per cent, year-on-year in September but that did not arrest the fall: freight load factor fell 1.4 per cent, year-on-year, to 63.2 percent. The reasons for the low cargo volumes: weak traffic to Americas and Asia-Pacific regions through the year.
