Qantas strengthens its air cargo business

The carrier is acquiring Australian Air Express to boost a core business area

Despite its financial position, Australia’s Qantas Airways has decided to strengthen its air cargo network by acquiring Australian Air Express that according to Qantas Group chief executive Alan Joyce would boost a core business area. Qantas has decided to sell its 50 per cent stake in StarTrack to Australia Post, for $422 million. Since 2003, Qantas and Australia Post each own 50 per cent of Australian Air Express and StarTrack.
