Garuda plans new cargo business division

Indonesian national carrier Garuda Indonesia has worked out plans to spin off its cargo division in 2013 into an independent business. PT Garuda Indonesia Cargo, the new subsidiary, according to vice president Rajendra Kartawiria will “collaborate with domestic and global forwarders to expand our business”.

Garuda’s revenues from the cargo business rose 12.2 per cent to $154 million during the January-September period. Cargo also saw a 12 per cent growth during the period to 160,000 tons, compared to the same period last year.
