China Southern’s profit goes down

With carrier increasing capacity, the pressure on profit margins has gone up

China’s largest airline, China Southern Airlines has had a fall of 29 per cent in net profit in the three months that ended September 30: its profit was $354 million from $501.23 million a year earlier. The only airline in the country to have acquired four A380s – with a fifth one joining the fleet in 2013 – China Southern has been facing pressure on its profit margins as it seeks to boost capacity.
