The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency has announced that it has “formalized and expanded” its Air Cargo Advance Screening (ACAS) pilot programme, which enables cargo executives to send and receive advance security filing data for their consignments. The CBP and the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) are pushing ACAS since it will help identify high-risk shipments in the early stages of the shipping process. ACAS, however, is voluntary for the time being.
