Virgin Atlantic’s chief executive since 2001, Steve Ridgway, will be stepping down after 23 years with the transatlantic carrier early next year. Ridgway is reported to have said that he would lead the search for his successor while the airline’s chief commercial officer Julie Southern said the next chief executive would be “a likely leading internal candidate”. Meanwhile, the Sunday Times reported that Air New Zealand’s outgoing chief executive Rob Fyfe could be an external candidate to replace Ridgway.
