No Gulf takers for stakes in Indian carriers

Emirates and Etihad not interested in investing

49 per cent aviation sector Emirates Etihad Airways FDI foreign direct investment Indian carriers investments management control Tim Clark

Emirates does not propose to take stakes in Indian carriers. Etihad Airways, on the other hand, has said it will make investments in Indian carriers if the commercial prospects are good. The responses come after almost a week of India opening up the aviation sector for 49 per cent FDI (Foreign Direct Investment). Emirates president Tim Clark hadsaid that investing in an Indian carrier could happen if Emirates got complete management control along with the 49 per cent stake but since he did not see that happening, the carrier was not interested.
