The Sultanate of Muscat and Oman has floated tenders for the multi-billion-dollar expansion and modernisation of the Muscat and Salalah international airports that will include the construction of world-class air cargo terminals at the two international gateways. The cargo terminals will provide muscle to the Sultanate’s long-term plan to emerge as a major aviation hub in the region.

While the Muscat cargo complex will cover an area of 34,000 sq metres and will be designed for an annual capacity of 500,000 tonnes of freight, the Salalah International Airport will have a 100,000 tonnes per year air-cargo terminal.
