Malaysian airfreight forwarders have decided to boycott the secured trade system using radio frequency identification (RFID) seals, which was supposed to go live on September 8. The system, undertaken by the Royal Malaysian Customs and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to enhance container security, has come in for criticism from the Airfreight Forwarders of Malaysia (AFAM) that has asked its members not to sign up for the new system until negotiations with the project vendor Smartag Solutions are resolved.
