The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has called for liberalization of the Middle East market, including the liberty to airlines to price services and access capital. The call was given by Hussein Dabbas, IATA’s regional vice president for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). IATA projections show that from 2011 to 2015, the MENA region will see annual average international freight growth of 5.7 per cent (4.7 per cent worldwide). IATA expects that by 2015, the United Arab Emirates will lead the region in freight, carrying 2.7 million metric tons.
