Taiwan’s China Airlines Ltd (CAL) will be able to show profits in the third quarter of this year, according to CAL chairman C J Chang, most of which will come from passenger loads in the tourist season. However, CAL’s cargo business for the remainder of this year will be slow and would not revive as much as other countries following a change of the island’s export structure. The only way CAL can be competitive will be to set up more air cargo hubs overseas to drive up air cargo volumes.
