Cargo volumes rise at HKIA

Increase in tonnage came from cargo throughput to and from Japan and SE Asia

August saw freight tonnages rising by 3 per cent at Hong Kong International Airport, year-over-year, to 328,000 tonnes. Cargo throughput to and from Japan and South East Asia outperformed other key regions and helped boost volumes, according to a press release.  

The airport processed 2.6 million tonnes of freight from January to August, a 0.2 per cent, year-over-year, increase; aircraft movements also went up 5.4 per cent, year-over-year, during this period.
