Schiphol airport has experienced a drop in cargo volumes: it handled 729,174 tonnes of cargo over the first six months of 2012 – a 3.2 per cent drop on the same period in 2011. However, the airport has added that its performance was “above the average” for Europe. While exports accounted for 48.7 per cent of the total, imports were 3.5 per cent down during the period.
