Saudia Cargo volume goes up by 26 per cent
New routes and increased capacity in the carrier’s freighter network has helped increased tonnage
August 1, 2012
Saudia Cargo, the cargo division of Saudi Airlines and the largest freighter operator in the Middle East, carried 251,500 tons of cargo in the first half of 2012. The cargo volume saw an increase of 26 per cent in tonnage carried and 25 per cent in revenue compared to the same period in 2011.
The growth is attributed to Saudia Cargo’s freighter network which in April 2012 saw the introduction of new routes to Frankfurt, Vienna, Ho Chi Min City and Dubai. Saudia Cargo increased its capacity in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Lagos, N’Djamena and Europe in the first six months of the year.
