DHL on upward growth path in Q2

Favourable air freight rates and currency swings helped overcome ‘challenging’ conditions

Asia cheap air freight currency swings Deutsche Post DHL DHL efficiency drives growth trend

The growth trend at Deutsche Post DHL remained firmly in place during the second quarter of 2012 amid trading conditions the company described as ‘challenging’. At $17 billion, revenues generated between April and June rose 7.3 per cent above the previous year’s level. Cheap air freight, currency swings and efficiency drives were behind the year-on-year jump in operating profits in the first quarter of the year. The positive development was largely due to the performance of the DHL divisions which benefited from their position in the rapidly growing regions of the world, particularly in Asia.
