Qatar Airways is keen to start cargo services to Western Australia. The carrier launched non-stop passenger flights between its Doha hub and Perth on July 3 but as its chief executive officer Akbar Al Baker believes, a dedicated freight route could be a game-changer for the carrier. Al Baker recently met top Western Australian officials to discuss opportunities. His meeting came soon after the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia declared that Perth “desperately needs” more freighter capacity to meet high cargo demand.
