Delhi airport permitted to raise charges by 345 per cent

If implemented, move will effect air freight from Delhi and northern India

AERA aeronautical charges belly cargo costliest airport Dehi High Court Delhi Airport freighter flights

Delhi airport has received permission from India’s Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) to hike aeronautical tariff by 345 per cent and not 774 per cent as it had demanded earlier. The move making Delhi the costliest airport in the world has been opposed by the airport’s customers who have filed a petition with the Delhi High Court.

For cargo operators, Delhi would become unviable. Presently, Delhi handles 79 weekly freighter flights in addition to a bulk of belly cargo.
