China plans for massive aviation growth

More than 300 planes will be bought and 70 new airports will be added by 2015

Unfazed by the downturn in the aviation sector worldwide, China sent out a strong message that it has chalked out aggressive expansion plans for its aviation sector. Li Jiaxiang, administrator of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, speaking at the International Air Transport Association annual meeting that China planned to purchase more than 300 planes annually till 2015 by which time the number of commercial aircraft would be more than 4,000. In addition, while 70 new airports would be constructed in the 2011-2015, more than 100 would be revamped.
