Indian air cargo advisory body submits report
Form Air Cargo Logistics Promotion Board to steer reforms in air cargo sector
May 22, 2012
In December 2010, India’s Civil Aviation Economic Advisory Council (CAEAC) set up a Working Group on Air Cargo and Express Service Industry to recommend policy initiatives for the sector. The working group has submitted its report on Air Cargo Logistics in India.
Dr Nasim Zaidi, Secretary, Civil Aviation, pointed out that the report contained “in-depth analyses of issues and comprehensive coverage of key aspects of the air cargo business” that would “lead to specific actionable points with timelines for implementation”. A major recommendation in the report pertains to the setting up of an Air Cargo Logistics Promotion Board — an inter-ministerial group — that can steer through the reforms suggested in the report to achieve the goals and objectives set out for the future of the air logistics sector in India.
