FedEx has announced that it would acquire Tatex, a leading French B2B express transport company. Founded in 1976, Tatex has over 1,000 employees, a nationwide network and 35 shipping centres including six regional hubs. The acquisition will give FedEx Express access to a domestic network that carries 19 million shipments and produces approximately €150 million ($193.86 million) in annual revenue. FedEx Express has been broadening its European network and recently announced plans to acquire Opek, a Polish shipping company. The Tatex and Opek acquisitions follow the purchase of ANC Holdings, a UK domestic express transport company, in 2006 and its Hungarian service provider, Flying Cargo Hungary, in 2007.
