71 pilots’ services terminated; 16 international flights cancelled

Even as 200-odd Air India pilots owing allegiance to the  Indian Pilots Guild (IPG) continue to remain on strike for the fifth day today – in protest against the rescheduling of training on Dreamliners and issue about their careers — resulting in the cancellation of 16 flights from Delhi and Mumbai, senior pilots have sent a letter requesting Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to intervene and put an end to the impasse.Air India has terminated the services of 71 pilots till today and has even asked the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to cancel the licenses of 11 office bearers of the IPG whose services have been terminated.

In their letter to the Prime Minister and Rohit Nandan,the chairman-cum-managing director of Air India, the pilots have pointed out that the demands of the striking pilots were genuine and should be looked into.
