SIA, SAS sign joint venture expansion deal

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and have signed an initial memorandum that aims to create a joint venture agreement for a non-stop route between Stockholm and Singapore operated by both carriers.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and have signed an initial memorandum that aims to create a joint venture agreement for a non-stop route between Stockholm and Singapore operated by both carriers.

The agreement would also increase frequencies on the Copenhagen- Singapore route. The MoU, which is subject to regulatory approval, involves the co-ordination of flight schedules and joint sales activities.

SIA currently operates three weekly flights between Copenhagen and Singapore. The partnership is expected to lead to substantial growth beyond this to cover Stockholm also, to be served using Singapore Airlines aircraft. At the moment no airline operates non-stop flights between the two cities.
