PHILIPPINES : Philippines Airlines resumes cargo ops

Philippines Airlines’ (PAL) cargo business resumed operations in early October after the country’s largest cargo carrier completed the outsourcing of part of its operations. PAL Cargo’s services had been suspended since its Employees Association began a strike in late September following the carrier’s announcement to outsource nearly 2,600 jobs. “We’re now accepting cargo bookings for all international flights including widebody domestic flights that operate out of (Ninoy Aquino International Airport) Terminal 2,” said airline president Jaime Bautista. In the last fiscal year, the carrier uplifted 139,284 tonnes, a nine per cent year-on-year gain.
