ACAAI annual convention

Every year the ACAAI organises a three-day annual convention which is the key event and focal point for freight forwarders in India. Normally, about 400 delegates and their spouses participate in this convention. In the past the ACAAI was holding most of its annual conventions overseas attracting a large participation from its members while appealing to the attention of a cross section of air cargo related agencies. There was a conscious shift from this tradition for the past few years when it was decided to hold the convention in India after a gap more than a decade, to involve and engage the resources of Government authorities and Ministries. This endeavor to interact with various government officials turned out to be a huge success creating access to many top ranking Government officials during and after the convention. Many challenges are confronting the air cargo industry in general and ACCAI in particular, and the event enabled many of these issue to be freely and frankly discussed with the policy makers in the 36th & 37th Conventions prompting ACCAI to continue with the strategy and hence this year the 38th convention will be held in Amritsar. Among those the ACAAI invited included: Top officials of the Ministries of Aviation, Commerce, Finance, Airlines, Airport Terminal Operators to be speakers and panelists for the 38th convention along with experts and industry shapers from sectors like Automobile, Retail, Information Technology, Logistics, etc. The event, scheduled for early November was expected to attract top ranking economists, stalwarts in restrictive practices, taxation experts along with freight forwarders from the Indian industry. The Air Cargo Agents Association of India (ACAAI) is the sole representative body of the IATA accredited Air Cargo Agents across India. The Association is affiliated to international organisations such as IATA, FIATA, FAPAA, etc. The ACAAI has nearly 620 members representing the cargo fraternity including national and international airlines, various custodians (airport authorities, off airport facilities, CFS) and bonded truckers. – Articles contributed by the ACAAI
