Emirates begins Sydney maindeck service

Emirates SkyCargo has begun its first dedicated freighter service to Australia’s Sydney, using the carrier’s newest Boeing 777 freighter aircraft. The inaugural flight carried onboard 100 tonnes of cargo including medical equipment, diagnostics, textiles, spare parts, clothing and dangerous goods. The service will operate Dubai– Singapore–Sydne –Hong Kong–Dubai weekly and the 103 tonne payload of the B777 freighter will boost Emirates SkyCargo’s import capacity to 1,370 tonnes per week. “The addition of a dedicated freighter service is a major milestone in Emirates SkyCargo’s growth in Australia, and offers new possibilities for expansion into other areas of air cargo transport,” said Greg Johnson Emirates’ cargo manager Australia. “With the high Australian dollar driving up imports, this new flight will also provide us with much needed additional capacity into the market,” added Johnson. Emirates currently operates 63 passenger flights per week to Dubai from Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney, and 28 weekly trans-Tasman services.
