Singapore Airlines Cargo has added Jakarta to its freighter network complementing its belly capacity to the city and increased its weekly frequencies to Auckland, Shanghai, Sydney and Xiamen. The new once-weekly Boeing 747-400 freighter service to Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, commenced on 5 September 2011. This new freighter service will be increased to twice weekly from Northern Winter 2011. Indonesia is a major exporter of garments, footwear, food products, machinery and electronic devices between Jakarta, Singapore and the rest of the world.
Last month, SIA Cargo increased its frequency to Xiamen from three to five times
weekly, and frequency to Shanghai from seven to eight times weekly. Frequency to Sydney was increased from four to seven times weekly, while Auckland frequency increased from three to five times weekly. These additional services were mounted mainly to cater to increased import demand into the South West Pacific region.
