After what it says was a successful first year of cargo operations in the United Arab Emirates, Garuda Indonesia has presented its GSA, Air Cargo Trader (ACT) with a token of appreciation in recognition of their beneficial partnership.

“We are pleased with the solid relationship that we share with ACT, which has helped us gain a strong presence in the UAE,” stated Garuda Indonesia’s Dubai station manager, Taufik Hidayat. “ACT has high credibility and extensive experience in the UAE,” stated Taufik. “These, coupled with Garuda Indonesia’s market leverage, have helped us successfully meet our first year goals,” he added.

During their first year in partnership, Garuda Indonesia and ACT charted daily cargo capacity of 12 tonnes. Garuda offers daily west-bound transit to Amsterdam from Dubai using A330 aircraft and distribution of European traffic via trucking arrangements from Amsterdam. East-bound cargo is carried from Amsterdam to Jakarta via Dubai, connecting into the Far East network of Garuda, including international destinations such as Australia, Japan, and China, as well as domestic cities in Indonesia.

Garuda has also signed a new firm order with Airbus for four widebody A330-300 aircraft which will join its existing fleet of seven leased A330-200s and six A330-300s already in service. The carrier offers primarily long-haul routes to Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Pacific regions from its hubs in Jakarta and Denpasar.
