Malaysia Airlines has said it will join the oneworld global airline alliance and is expected to start flying as a member late next year. The state-owned carrier said in a statement that a formal membership agreement with the alliance led by American Airlines and British Airways will be completed soon. It was unanimously elected a oneworld member designate by the chief executives of the alliance’s member airlines at a meeting on the sidelines of International Air Transport Association’s 2011 World Air Transport Summit in Singapore.
