The establishment of Xinzhong Cargo, China’s largest cargo airline, was announced this week, according to a report in China’s Global Times. The report noted that Xinzhong Cargo has been qualified for express operations and has opened ten domestic cargo express operations. Currently, Xinzhong Cargo owns 18 freighters, including five B747-400, four B777, four MD-11, two B757-200SF and three A300-600F, with further plans for two more B777s later this year. Xinzhong Cargo is a group investment by China Eastern Airlines (51 per cent), China Ocean Shipping (Group) Corporation (17 per cent), EVA Air (16 per cent) and Singapore Airlines Cargo (16 per cent), and a recombination of the original China Cargo Airlines, Shanghai Airlines Cargo and Great Wall Airlines Company Limited.
