Qantas has commenced four-times weekly – with a view to increasing frequency in the future – direct flights from Sydney to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) from 16 May using Boeing 747- 400 aircraft. DFW is Qantas’ first new international destination since Buenos Aires in 2008. Through its codeshare partnership with American Airlines, Qantas will offer services beyond DFW to 54 destinations in the US, Canada and Mexico – including Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Washington, Toronto, Vancouver, Cancun and Mexico City. Qantas CEO, Alan Joyce noted that what sets DFW apart are “the connections its world-class airport provides to other major cities in the US, Canada and Mexico. This makes it the perfect platform for Qantas to develop its relationship with our oneworld partner American Airlines, beginning with a significant expansion of codesharing to capitalise on DFW’s hub location.”
