Singapore Airlines Cargo added two weekly destinations to its network for the Northern Summer schedule, which came into effect from 30 March 2011. In March, the cargo carrier resumed freighter operations to Kolkata (via Chennai), India after having stopped flying to the Indian city in 2009. It also started operations to a new destination, Penang, Malaysia, from 8 April. The Penang flight will continue on to Hong Kong before returning to Singapore. SIA Cargo said cargo capacity generated by the B747-400F will complement the bellyhold space available in Singapore Airlines’ four times weekly passenger services between Singapore and Kolkata.
