Cargoitalia – Italy’s all-cargo flag carrier – is adding extra flights to Shanghai and Hong Kong in its summer 2011 schedule. From late March, Cargoitalia will operate four times weekly to Hong Kong with two services operating via Sharjah, while the other two will continue to route via Dubai. Also from late March, the airline is increasing its flights to Shanghai to three times weekly with all flights making a tech-stop in Krasnoyarsk in both directions. Cargoitalia will continue to operate twice-weekly to New York JFK, twice-weekly to Atlanta (via New York) and twice-weekly to Chicago. Says Cargoitalia commercial director Roberto Gilardoni: “Together with a dramatic increase in charter work, we are now obtaining much higher utilisation for each of our three MD11 freighters. This will further strengthen our commercial position in 2011, and lay the foundations for future expansion.”
