Hainan Airlines inaugurated its Hangzhou-Shenzhen-Sydney route on 19 January with the thrice weekly service operated using Airbus 330 aircraft. In southern China the carrier’s cargo ground handling service is provided by International Cargo Centre Shenzhen (ICCS). This Hangzhou-Shenzhen-Sydney route is the first international route scheduled by Hainan Airlines at Shenzhen Airport, linking the two continents. This strategy has not only further enhanced business and tourism ties between Australia and Shenzhen, but also boosted air freight market, said ICCS. In first half of 2011 ICCS said another two – unspecified – intra-Asia airlines are expected to sign contracts with the cargo handler.
