Lufthansa Cargo also turned in a strong performance for 2010 with the cargo division of the Lufthansa Group transporting around 1.8 million tonnes of cargo and mail, an increase of 18.2 per cent on the year-earlier level. The cargo load factor climbed by 7.3 percentage points to 70.9 per cent. As a whole, the Lufthansa Group transported around two million tonnes of freight and mail, an increase year-on-year of more than 18 per cent. The cargo load factor rose by 7.4 percentage points to 68 per cent. The Group also saw a 17 per cent rise in passengers during the year to 90.2 million passengers. Capacity was up by 12.1 per cent, while revenue seatkilometres grew by 14 per cent. The seat load factor rose accordingly by 1.4 percentage points. Passenger numbers increased in all traffic regions, with the steepest growth occurred in the Middle East and Africa region. The total number of flights was up by 13.1 per cent to a total of 1,014,692.
