American Airlines Cargo Division (AA Cargo) has begun operating a new daily nonstop B767-300 cargo service between John F. Kennedy International Airport and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The company also launched a new threedays- a-week seasonal nonstop B767 cargo service between Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Rio starting 16 December. AA Cargo said the new routes further solidify the carrier’s rank as the largest provider of flights into Latin America, with a total offering of 77 weekly flights to Brazil. “American Airlines Cargo is the only carrier to offer nonstop service from New York to Rio which enables our customers to ship product quickly and directly to one of South American’s burgeoning business centers,” said Carmen Taylor, director of Cargo Sales for American’s Latin American region. “As Brazil prepares to host both the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games, AA Cargo is ready to provide our customers with more options to tap into the vast opportunities which are unfolding.” AA Cargo’s Miami hub has long served as the airline’s largest US gateway to Brazil and to all of South America with multiple flights to and from Brazil through Miami International Airport, including Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Recife, and Salvador. In addition to Brazil, AA Cargo flies more flights into Latin American than any other airline, the carrier said, including service to and from Buenos Aires, Argentina and Santiago, Chile.
