Noting the importance integrators increasingly play in the highly competitive world of global manufacturers, Korean Air, as conventional freight carrier, is fine tuning its capability to position itself as a solution provider for select manufacturers and forwarders. Cohesion’, Korean Air’s customised logistics solution service which it has implemented on its established routes offers more specialised features, the carrier said. Structured on manufacturerforwarder- carrier tripartite partnership, Korean Air’s Cohesion requires predesign sessions among the partners to be detail-oriented by route, commodity, timeline, specified handling procedures, etc. It is specially targeting selected customers whose opportunity costs are significant due to missing links and friction along their supply chains, Korean Air Cargo said. The Korean cargo carrier is currently operating with weekly frequency of 133 B747-400F freighter flights (from Korea, including 44 flights to America and 30 flights to Europe). Korean Air also carries freight to 104 destinations around the world on its passenger aircraft. It also has exclusive warehouses at ICN, JFK, LAX, TYO, and OSA – where Korean Air’s tailored service quality is guaranteed with standardised procedures. Shipments under the Cohesion service are given the identification code, VIP’, from the moment of reservation and handled as such through to the time of delivery at each destination. The VIP tag and label is used on actual shipments and air waybill based on Cohesion contracts, making it easier for the shipments to be identified for this premium service. For quality management, Korean Air operates a SCS (Special Care Service) Team to provide consistent monitoring to secure service quality and prevent service failure.
