American Airlines has announced a new daily B767- 300ER flight to Budapest, Hungary from April next year. The launch is part of the trans-Atlantic cooperation of American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia Airlines recently approved by US and European competition authorities. The direct daily bellyhold cargo capacity to and from the US will be mean a signficant boost for Hungarian based exporters and importers such as pharmaceutical manufacturers Richter Gedeon, vaccine makers GSK and US chemical company Albermarle Corporation. “With a young, qualified and , multi-lingual workforce available, Budapest is fast becoming highly attractive to foreign manufacturers and distribution companies. The presence of major long hall carriers such as American Airlines with the OneWorld network will be a great asset to the Hungarian economy,” American said. Three other new transatlantic routes will also come into fruition as a result of this tie-up: Chicago-Helsinki, flown by American; San Diego-London Heathrow, flown by British Airways; and Los Angeles-Madrid, flown by Iberia. American also plans to launch an additional flight each day on its existing New York-Barcelona and Miami-Madrid routes.
