Globelink China Logistics has bought Manchester-based CBI Global Freight Management as part of the company’s expansion into the UK. The Shanghaibased company also signed a three-year lease on an office suite at the World Freight Terminal at Manchester Airport, which the company moved into in early September. CBI will be part of Globelink subsidiary UNI Logistics which operates from over thirty locations in China and has agencies in Europe, the US, India, the Middle East, as well as elsewhere in Asia. The two companies have cooperated for about five years and the acquisition was widely anticipated. “The acquisition of our company by one of the world’s foremost logistics companies will ensure we can continue to maintain our growth in the Far East and also worldwide due to Globelink China’s extensive Agency network,” said CBI managing director, Nigel Sleigh. “Make no mistake, Manchester has been chosen over London by Globelink because of the unrivalled logistical opportunities afforded by Manchester Airport,” he added.
