Qantas Freight has reported double digit percentage growth in its profit, shooting up from A$7 million (US$6.7 million) last year to an underlying profit before tax of $42 million in 2010. The airline’s air freight business, which incorporates Australian Air Express and Star Track Express achieved a slight increase in revenue, from $764 million in 2009 to $821 million this financial year. Nearly 50 per cent of Qantas Freight’s revenue is now derived from cargo traffic from Asia, with much of this passing through Shanghai, the cargo carrier’s key Asian hub.
