With Asia leading the world economy out of recession and intra-Asia trade poised to become larger than the transpacific, the Asian air cargo market is once again set to be the focus of many in the air cargo supply chain industry. Asia Pacific is expected to be the biggest single air freight market in a few years despite the current recession, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Already Asian carriers are the largest players in the global air freight market with a 44 per cent share of the global market and China has indicated its desire to have one homegrown carrier ranking amongst the top five global cargo carriers within the next three years. These are just some of the issues andtrends that will be examined in the upcoming Asia Air Cargo Supplement in the July issueof Payload Asia.
