Global express and logistics provider TNT recently transported an unusual but key piece of yachting equipment from Liege to Sydney via Singapore for the renowned Sydney-Hobart sailing race. The 44 metre-long mast, separated into two sections each measuring 22 metres, was transported from TNT’s hub in Liege, Belgium to Singapore on board TNT’s B747 freighter. Following the Singapore stopover, the mast was subsequently flown into Sydney by another carrier.

Due to its length and fragility, the yacht mast required nose loading and unloading along with the of a crane to ensure that this critical component of the racing yacht was handled efficiently and carefully in and out of TNT’s freighter. The yacht mast is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and is virtually irreplaceable.
