ItÃ¢â‚¬™s not the first time flying to Iraq for Lufthansa, which first began flights to Baghdad in 1956, but stopped operating these in 1990 with the onset of the Gulf War.
German budget carrier, Air Berlin, has also detailed schedules to both Sulimaniyah and Erbil from four cities in Germany with these routes starting as early as February.
