Vietnamese Minister of Transport Ho Nghia Dung called on ASEAN transport ministers to push for early implementation of transport agreements among their respective countries and to co-operate with their partners to implement effective infrastructure development.

Speaking at the 28th ASEAN Senior Transport Officials Meeting (STOM) held in Ha Noi, Dung discussed the implementation of the ASEAN connection initiative which would benefit the community in 2015. Dung highlighted the importance of improving transport links by air, sea, road and rail in order to build up the ASEAN Economic Community.

Among the air-related initiatives on the table is the ASEAN Multilateral Agreement on the Full Liberalisation of Air Freight Services, of which all but two countries – Indonesia and Malaysia – have indicated their readiness to sign.
