Logistics company Katoen Natie is spending some US$39.4 million in its third phase of expansion, taking its total investments in Singapore to $98.6 million. The Belgian firm has been operating in Singapore since 1997 providing logistics and semi-industrial services to the specialty chemical and petrochemical industry. The company is currently building phase 3 of its Jurong Logistics Terminal which will double its capacity, not only in size but also in capabilities. This expansion will take its warehousing capacity here to 110,000 square metres. Katoen Natie also announced its phase 4 and 5 expansion plans, where it would be spending another $30 million to raise its warehousing capacity to 150,000 square metres. Its parent company, which employs some 10,000 people, is headquartered in Antwerp, home to the chemicals hub and major port in Belgium.
