This one clearly belongs in the “If only we could do that!” category. A gem from the Civil Aviation Authority of China (CAAC) Annual Report 2007/2008: “In response to the increasingly serious problem of aircraft/airport noise, the relevant policy research was organised and conducted. The Capital Airport (Beijing) noise reduction program was put forward after joint studies with Boeing Company, and the noise monitoring system was set up. The entire two villages – Kuliushu and Huiminying – surrounding the capital airport were relocated and thus the noise problem that had plagued the two villages for many years was addressed”. I’ll bet they’re drooling over at London Heathrow!
